Women Architects in Portugal:
building visibility,
1942-1986

W@ARCH.PT is a research project funded by FCT [PTDC/ART-DAQ/32388/2017] and it is developed in CIEG-ISCSP/University of Lisbon. As in other international contexts, the history of Portuguese architecture has been built by omitting women architects’ presences and contributions. The realization of grassroots research is essential to expand the disciplinary frame of those who, being part of the history of Portuguese architecture, are not considered in it. This basic question of historical justice is a fundamental aim of the project. W@ARCH.PT proposes to write a history made of stories, where the diversity of subjects, those who do it, intersects with the diversity of ways of doing and modes of being a female or male architect.
