Interview with Ana Torrão

We believe that the History of Women in Architecture is also made up of those who entered the course and who, for different reasons, did not finish it. These narratives are significant in the construction of a broader disciplinary framework because they bring experiences that are often not considered. Today we interviewed Ana Torrão, who, in the early 1980s, studied at ESBAP and then ESBAL schools and who, for personal reasons, did not finish graduation. We hear about her personal and academic path and motivations.

We thank Ana for her availability. We hope to meet soon!

Interview with the architect Ana Tostões

On June 5, 2020, we started the process of deconfinishing of the W@ARCH.PT project and returned to the interviews, with all safety precautions. We interviewed the architect and teacher Ana Tostões in her office at ISTécnico and talked about her academic and professional career.

For us it was wonderful to return to fieldwork! We thank architect Ana for her generosity and availability. We hope to meet soon!

Interview with the architect and researcher Luz Valente-Pereira

On December 20, 2019, under a rain and wind storm, we were received by the architect and researcher Luz Valente-Pereira at her home. It was a joy for us to end the year getting to know her and being able to interview her. Despite little known and the lack of recognition, Luz Valente-Pereira built a solid career as a researcher in the LNEC, from the 1960s to the end of the 20th century, presenting a vast publication of works that reflect critically from the scale of the house to the scale of the city and regional planning.

We thank architect Luz for her generosity and availability to welcome us to her home. Also to your husband for his support for the rigorous dates throughout the interview. It was a pleasure to meet her and we hope to see them soon!
